TRADITIONALLY the first event of the New Year on the British Games Club’s social calendar, the always-popular Burns Night will again feature Mr Stuart Lorimer ‘addressing the haggis’.
This year Burns Supper takes place on Saturday, January 28 at the Hotel Teide Mar in the La Paz area of Puerto de la Cruz.
Burns Night celebrates the life and great contribution to the culture of Scotland by the poet Robert Burns, who was born on January 25, 1759. Burns’s best-known work is Auld Lang Syne, but countless other lines from his work are still in use in everyday speech by all those whose mother tongue is English.
The evening will start at 7.30 for 8pm with a whisky mac reception and will be followed by an excellent buffet, including wine and water.
After the meal you will be able to take to the dance floor to music provided by Denis.
Tickets are €25 for members and €30 for non-members. If you wish to attend, please make sure you let social secretary Susan Dickinson (922 368 088) know in good time.
