THE DESTINATION of the British Games Club tennis section’s Jim McColl Trophy was settled this year by fractions.
The 15th annual staging of the event, run in memory of a long-time member of the tennis section, saw an early start for some of the participants – 9am!
The event kicked off under leaden grey skies, which threatened to ruin the day, but, as usual, Jim worked his magic from up above and all went according to plan.
Every played at least four games, with scores added up at the end to produce an outright winner, which this year turned out to be newbie member Nigel Ross, with a score of 6.2, beating Moira Angers into second place by 0.2 of a point.
An excellent lunch in the clubhouse followed, courtesy of Chio and Jacobo’s team.
The trophy was presented by David Self, not only a close friend of Jim but they shared the same birthdays, too.
