AN EXCITING Pairs Competition ended in triumph for Pat Holmes and Ron Musgrave, veteran members of the bowls section of the British Games Club, seen here receiving the Pairs Cup from bowls captain Elaine Cundall (centre).
They beat Grace Lorimer and Ken Sheldon 21-7 in a final that was much closer than the scoreline suggests. After 10 ends, the pairs were deadlocked at 7-7 before Holmes and Musgrave ran away with it, scoring 14 points over three ends.
The competition is run to a ‘World Cup’ format, with four teams per section playing each other on a league basis. This year’s competition saw just eight teams taking part, with the winners of each group going forward to the final.
