DIANE Shrago has won the season’s top trophy at the British Games Club’s Mahjong section.
She is pictured (second right) receiving the David Reid Trophy from Games Club President Pam Squires.
Diane also keeps for the duration of her year’s reign as Mahjong champion the splendid Chinese vase taking centre stage on the Mahjong table.
Also pictured are long-time Mahjong players, Dawn Johnson (second left) and Kay Weeks, themselves both former winners of the trophy.
The Mahjong group meets every Tuesday between September and April. Sessions are held at the Centro Deportivo y de Ocio, better known to British ex-pats, swallows and holiday visitors to the north of Tenerife as Alvaro’s, in the El Botanico area of Puerto de la Cruz.
There are many different forms of Mahjong but the version played by British Games Club members is, according to the players themselves, very easy to learn and new players are always welcome.
