THE TENNIS section of the British Games Club is saying a sad farewell to vice-captain and long-time member Hara Davis this month as she returns to live in the UK.
Ahead of her departure from our shores a special tournament was held in her honour.
Capturing the day’s one-off trophy was Lorna Hamilton, who claimed her second successive tournament victory following her lifting of the Jim McColl Trophy back in February.
With the playing part of the day over, members and friends gathered to give suitable gravitas to Hara’s departure. Tapas and wine were served before several presentations were made by captain Maxine Self, who paid tribute to Hara’s unstinting efforts on behalf of the section.
Among the items presented were a moonstone on a silver chain, together with some framed mementoes of her time with us in Tenerife. The cutting of a special cake, baked by Lorna, rounded off the day’s events.
Hara has been a tennis section member for nigh on seven years and vice-captain for the last four years. She is succeeded as vice-captain by Victoria Neilson.
