DIANE Shrago has won the season’s top trophy at the British Games Club’s mahjong section for the fifth year running.
She is pictured (centre) after receiving the David Reid Trophy from newly-appointed Games Club President Susan Dickinson (second left).
Diane also keeps for the duration of her year’s reign as mahjong champion the splendid Chinese vase taking centre stage on the Mahjong table.
The mahjong group meets every Tuesday between September and April. Sessions are held at the Centro Deportivo y de Ocio, better known to British ex-pats, swallows and holiday visitors to the north of Tenerife as Alvaro’s, in the El Botanico area of Puerto de la Cruz, starting at 1.30pm.
There are many different forms of mahjong but the version played by British Games Club members is, according to the players themselves, very easy to learn. New players are always welcome.
For further information about joining in the mahjong sessions contact Diane Shrago on 922 351 005.
