ALWAYS the first event of the New Year on the British Games Club’s social calendar, the ever-popular Burns Night will again feature Mr Stuart Lorimer ‘addressing the haggis’.
This year Burns Supper takes place on Saturday, January 27 at the Hotel Teide Mar in La Paz. A welcome drink and canapés will be served from 8pm for 8.30pm start.
Burns Night celebrates the life and great contribution to the culture of Scotland by the poet Robert Burns, who was born on January 25, 1759. Burns’s best-known work is Auld Lang Syne, but countless other lines from his work are still in use in everyday speech by all those whose mother tongue is English.
Following the whisky mac reception,he menu for the evening will feature a buffet offering roast beef, roast pork and fresh salmon.
Wine and water are included in the tickets, which are on sale at €25 for members and €30 for non-member guests.
